You ready for some REAL MOM Nutrition talk?
Today’s podcast is really packed full of useful information on the topic of healthy eating and nutrition for kids. I interviewed Sally Kuzemchak – a registered dietician and mother of 2 and blogger at Real Mom Nutrition. She is a real pleasure to interview, and provides a TON of useful information.
In this episode you will learn about:
Big no-nos moms are making – even when they think they are being “healthy”
- Sugar and artificial colorings are bad!
- Fruit snacks should be treated as a dessert
- Don’t bribe your kids to eat healthy foods with the promise of dessert. This doesn’t help your child develop an appreciation or preference for that food.
Recommendation for healthy snacks – Try to have fruits and veggies available for all snacks Lara bars, KIND bars – good portable choices. You can even make your own snack bars
Snacks should look a lot like meals – as far as the food, not the portion size 🙂
Breakfast – how to do it right. Sally gives all kinds of tips for a great breakfast and shares a Recipe for scrambled egg muffin
And of course – we talked about her book – Dinner Time Survival Guide (affiliate link) which includes 150 recipes – focused on busy parents and obstacles to getting dinner on the table. Picky eaters, schedules, budget, etc. The recipes in the chapter are tailored to the obstacle of the chapter.
Tips for Busy Moms –
Favorite resources – Meal planning worksheet
For time management – Focus Booster App
Final piece of advice – we all have hard days, so hang in there!
