Today we are talking to Susan Maccarelli, the writer behind the blog Pecked to Death by Chickens and the mastermind behind Beyond Your Blog, a site that helps bloggers get published on sites beyond their own blogs.

Susan is a work from home mother of two and an absolute delight to listen to and talk to. I actually am a groupie of her podcast series, in which she interviews editors at different publications about how to get submissions accepted. Hopefully one day, Kerry and I will be interviewed by Susan!

In this episode:

Susan explains how she got started blogging, her first taste of “readership” after she submitted on BlogHer, and how the idea for Beyond Your Blog originated.

Her first interviewee: someone we love, Val Curtis from BonBon Break

Other interviews, including Kerry McLoughlin – Regional Parenting Publications – Make Money to Write about your Kids: Get Published in Regional, National, & Online Parenting Publications… by Kerrie McLoughlin

We talked about parenting styles – and being able to work with kids in the house. (We agree the kids are okay if we aren’t attending to them 100% of the time.)

To get away for some “mommy time” and quiet work time, she packs up and heads to Panera for a few hours.

As always, we asked for some time saving recommendations or favorite resources for busy moms. I love Susan’s response.

She orders her groceries online. Order online, drive up, and they load it into your car. Susan hates the grocery store, especially with kids. (Don’t we all?!)

As our conversation continued, we talked about how amazing it is to unplug and ditch electronics for awhile for some quality family time and how getting rid of cable is totally a thing now!

Hope you love this podcast with Susan as much as I enjoyed interviewing her.  Find Susan on Facebook | Twitter | Pinterest
